Materials You’ll Need
Before we get started, gather your supplies:
- Yarn: Fine or Sport weight (Weight 2/3) cotton or acrylic yarn in Light Brown/Tan and Dark Brown.
- Crochet Hook: 2.5 mm or 3.0 mm (use a smaller hook than recommended on the yarn label to keep stitches tight).
- Safety Eyes: 6 mm black safety eyes.

Step-by-Step Mini Dachshund Pattern
1. Snout & Head
Start with Light Brown Yarn.
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
- Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
- Rnd 3: sc in each st around (9)
- Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 3 (12)
- Rnd 5: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
- Rnd 6–9: sc in each st around (18) (4 rounds)
Insert 6mm safety eyes between Rnds 5 and 6, about 4 stitches apart. Stuff the snout lightly.
- Rnd 10: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
- Rnd 11: dec x 6 (6)
Stuff the head firmly. Fasten off, weave through the front loops to close, and hide the yarn tail.

2. Long Sausage Body
Using Light Brown Yarn.
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
- Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12)
- Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
- Rnd 4–15: sc in each st around (18) (12 rounds to give that classic long Dachshund body!)
- Rnd 16: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Stuff the body firmly as you go.
- Rnd 17: dec x 6 (6)
Fasten off, close the hole, and weave in the end.
3. Floppy Ears (Make 2)
Using Dark Brown Yarn.
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
- Rnd 2: inc x 6 (12)
- Rnd 3–5: sc in each st around (12)
- Rnd 6: (2 sc, dec) x 3 (9)
- Rnd 7: sc in each st around (9)
Do not stuff. Flatten the ear and sc across the top opening to close. Leave a long tail for sewing.

4. Little Paws (Make 4)
Using Light Brown Yarn.
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
- Rnd 2–4: sc in each st around (6)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Do not stuff.
5. Tiny Tail
Using Dark Brown Yarn.
- Ch 6.
- Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 4 ch.
- Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Assembly & Finishing Touches
- Attach the Head: Sew the head securely to the front top section of the long body using your tapestry needle.
- Attach the Ears: Sew the dark brown ears to the sides of the head at around Rnd 8.
- Attach the Legs: Sew two legs to the front lower side of the body and two to the back lower side, ensuring the dachshund sits evenly.
- Attach the Tail: Sew the tail to the back end of the body.
- Embroider Details: Using a strand of dark brown yarn, embroider a tiny black nose at the tip of the snout.
